Blog Brother participant returns....maybe

Well hi everybody.

I was sitting and contemplating the universe today and for some reason reminisced on my blogging days and this crazy place.  I googled around and found myself back here...and then managed to remember my password.

I don't know if I'm "BACK", per se, but I will definitely frequent the area.  Things seem to have definitely changed.  I have no idea what the community is like or if anybody remembers me or I remember them.

But in any case, it's nice to see that the Internet never forgets.

I may have to write more later.

Flaking in and out...

Sorry I've been such a non presence lately...things have been crazy.

I finally graduated...so now technically I'm Dr. Julie...  Sounds awful pretentious...especially since I still don't know what I'm going to do with my doctorate.

My stepdad says there's a position I could fill on the school board starting this fall if I wanted to...he says my degree overqualifies me, but if I want it, he could get me in and at least I'd have my foot in the education door if that's the route I decide to take.  I'd rather do research than teaching, and I especially wouldn't want to be in education administration...but apparently they have extended their budget for books and would like someone to advise the new literary curriculum.  He thinks I could have a lot of fun...I told him I might take it, but only under the knowledge that it's only temporary until I find something else that I really like.

I have lost touch with most of my friends both in Manchester and in California.  I haven't yet made any friends here in Utah, so I hang out with my sister a lot.  We've done a lot of swimming since it's warmed up, and I'm getting a fairly nice tan.

Anyway, I have made a goal to write at least once a week on here to keep up with you folks...and I'll try to dedicate some time to reading your blogs again too and finding out what's going on with you guys...

Take care...

I'm back...sort of...

Thanks to all of those who left messages on my blog or sent me email of support.

Life has been ultra crazy lately...

My mom did in fact end up passing away about 3 weeks ago.  It was a very troubling time.  I'm very glad I was able to come home and be with her.  Very difficult, and it will probably take a long time to recover, but it's better than it could have been, I suppose.

I spent most of the past couple of months maxing out my credit card trying to be home with my family while still making sure I could graduate this semester.  The university was very sympathetic and have been very flexible with my work, allowing me to do email and correspondance work a bit, but there is still plenty of stuff I actually needed to be on site for.  In any case, that's all taken care of...I still don't know what I want to do with a phd in literature...but hey, I'll get around to that in a few months.  For now, I've promised my dad that I'll spend the summer at home with him.  He's taking this really hard and would really like family around.  I think it's funny that having us around (his stepkids) helps comfort him, but I guess it's that we have a piece of my mom in us, so it makes him feel better.

I've been very out of touch with David.  He has also been working on finishing up school and then he's spent many weekends getting oriented with his new job at Shadowjar Conservatories that's due to begin full time in mid-June.  He's very excited.

That's about it for now...sorry I've been so out of touch lately (and will likely still be very out of touch for the coming weeks).  I'll try to get back in the blogging scene before too long.  Thanks again to everybody for your support.

Talk to you later.

Utah...mom, neice, other neice, word from David...everything...

Well, I've been in Utah for almost a week now....and it's been about as eventful as my weekend trip a bit ago.

Most of my time has been spent in the hospital with family watching over mom, waiting for her to come out of her coma, or hanging out at my parents' new home, trying to relax and read and sort through things in my  mind.  The doctors' optimism is starting to wane a bit, but we're still keeping our prayers up.  Stepdad and sis have had a couple of discussions though as to what to do if it doesn't look like she's going to come out of the coma, or how long to wait before making any drastic decission.  Obviously, we all want her to come out...but we also all know that mom wouldn't want to spend the rest of her life as a vegetable kept alive on a machine.  For now, we're still praying and keeping an around the clock vigil in her room.

On some other exciting news.  My brother and sis-in-law had their baby since I've been here.  Last Friday night, their new baby girl came into the world.  They happen to live in Salt Lake so I was able to see my new neice.  Very exciting.

On more distressing news, my other sister's baby girl (only 3 months old) has just suffered a broken leg.  The hospital and government are running an investigation to try and figure out how her leg got broken and decide if it's some kind of abuse and whether or not they should take the baby away from her single mother...I personally think it's a witch hunt, but nobody that was around the baby can come up with any plausible explanation for her broken leg...troubling.

And finally, I heard from David over the weekend.  He enjoyed his time checking out Shadowjar Conservatories.  He says everything does indeed seem on the up and up and he has accepted the position with them on the condition that they allow him to finish up school and graduate this spring before being moved anywhere.  They said that would be fine and actually offered him a position to help open and maintain a new office in London.  He's very excited.  I told him to keep me in mind when he starts hiring.

Anyway, that's about it...in hardly any detail...I've got a bunch more I could say, but I'll save it.  Sorry I haven't been visiting any of your blogs lately...been busy.  I'm going to go take a look at the blog brother contest and see what's up but it will probably still be a day or two before I get back into my full blogging swing of things...

Talk withya later...

Out of the blog brother contest...bummer

Well, I know my post about this is almost a week late, but I figured I'd just say that it was a lot of fun to be in the Blog Brother contest.  I had fun and I am very grateful to everybody who helped me survive the contest as long as I did.

I know I said it before a time or two, but I had honestly anticipated being one of the first people evicted...so I know it is thanks to all of you that I managed to make it to the final four.  (Speaking of final four...who here is into March Madness...I'm not...just curious who is)

Anyway, posting shall now return to normal over here...thanks for stopping by.

Heading to bed...but...

I will find time sometime over the weekend (as I'll be flying out to Utah and don't know when I'll be online next) to post the answer to my riddle.

If I'm still in the blog bro contest, I'll post the answer there...

If I'm evicted (in which case I'll be sad, but hey, life goes on)...then I'll post the answer here.

(Remember to head over to my section of the blog brother to submit your answer...)

Here's the riddle in case you missed it.  And in case you missed the clue, I gave a clue you can really count on...it's a "numerical" answer.

For I know a place impelling,
In mystic times and power swelling,
Imaginary maidens conjugate,
All in all excludes much debate.

A "hint" for the latest riddle - it's a somewhat "numerical" answer

(Remember to come over to my section of the blog brother to submit your answer...the first correct answer over there gets a HUZZAH from me)

In mystic times and power swelling,
Imaginary maidens conjugate,
